Draft genome sequence of the Tibetan antelope

چکیده
The Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii) is endemic to the extremely inhospitable high-altitude environment of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, a region that has a low partial pressure of oxygen and high ultraviolet radiation. Here we generate a draft genome of this artiodactyl and use it to detect the potential genetic bases of highland adaptation. Compared with other plain-dwelling mammals, the genome of the Tibetan antelope shows signals of adaptive evolution and gene-family expansion in genes associated with energy metabolism and oxygen transmission. Both the highland American pika, and the Tibetan antelope have signals of positive selection for genes involved in DNA repair and the production of ATPase. Genes associated with hypoxia seem to have experienced convergent evolution. Thus, our study suggests that common genetic mechanisms might have been utilized to enable high-altitude adaptation.

Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae is an important pathogen of goats that causes contagious caprine pleuropneumonia. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of M. capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae strain zly1309F, isolated from a Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii) in China.
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of a Novel SAR11 Clade Species Abundant in a Tibetan Lake
SAR11 clade bacteria are abundant and play a key role in the nutrient cycles of marine and, presumably, inland aquatic environments. We report here the draft genome sequence of a novel species in the SAR11 cluster, reconstructed from a metagenomic data set obtained from a Tibetan lake.
متن کاملMicrosatellite Loci Analysis Reveals Post-bottleneck Recovery of Genetic Diversity in the Tibetan Antelope
The Tibetan antelope (chiru, Pantholops hodgsoni) is one of the most endangered mammals native to the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. The population size has rapidly declined over the last century due to illegal hunting and habitat damage. In the past 10 years, the population has reportedly been expanding due to conservation efforts. Several lines of evidence suggest that the Tibetan antelope has unde...
متن کاملDetection and Characterization of Weissellicin 110, a Bacteriocin Produced by Weissella cibaria
Background: Weissellicin 110 is the only bacteriocin reported in Weissella cibaria up to now. This bacteriocin represents several unique features. This is the first report on the gene sequence that encodes for the bacteriocin. Objectives: Providing a rapid detection method to isolate the weissellicin 110 encoding gene and determination of the bacteriocin distribution were the objectives. Materi...
متن کاملIndependence of color intensity variation in red flesh apples from the number of repeat units in promoter region of the MdMYB10 gene as an allele to MdMYB1 and MdMYBA
MdMYB10 gene expression results in accumulation of anthocyanin in many tissues including flesh of applefruit. The MdMYB1 and MdMYBA genes are close homologues to MdMYB10 gene and both are responsiblefor red color phenotype in apple fruit skin. In the current study, an apple genome sequence draft analysisindicated that these three genes are located in a unique contig. Further a...
